Introduction

Band Positions (“the App”) is a free iOS application that provides interactive visualizations of Norwegian wind band and brass band competition results from 1981 to 2025. The App is designed with privacy in mind and operates entirely offline after initial installation.

Our commitment: We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal information or usage data from our users.

The Band Positions app does not collect, store, transmit, or process any of the following:

Information Stored Locally

The App stores minimal, non-personal preferences locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.

What is stored:

1. Theme Preference: Your choice of light or dark mode
2. Band Type Preference: Your last selected band type (wind or brass band)
3. View Settings: Chart display options (absolute/relative positioning, axis scaling)
4. URL Parameters: When sharing links, your current view selections are encoded in the URL

Storage Method:

• Data is stored using iOS’s standard localStorage mechanism
• Storage is isolated to the App and cannot be accessed by other apps
• Total storage: Less than 1KB (approximately 50-200 bytes)

How to Delete:

You can delete all locally stored preferences by:

• Deleting and reinstalling the app, or
• Clearing the app’s data in iOS Settings → Band Positions → Clear Data

The App displays links to external streaming services for certain musical pieces:

Data Included in the App:

The App includes a pre-packaged dataset containing:

• Competition results (band names, rankings, years, divisions)
• Musical piece titles and composer names
• Conductor names (historical public competition data)
• Public URLs to streaming services (no personal data)

All data is sourced from publicly available competition archives at nmjanitsjar.no.

The Band Positions app is suitable for all ages (rated 4+). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children or adults. The App displays historical competition data and does not have any social features, user-generated content, or communication capabilities.

Parents/Guardians: The App is safe for children to use independently, as it:
